A challenge for a high demand

The challenge for Lucira was that of a perfect storm: a high demand for products at the start and height of COVID-19; an IT Application team limited in size to three employees; an urgent go-to -market timeline; and the need to adhere to standard FDA and HIPPA regulations that are necessary in every aspect of development and operations (such as, documentation of records, testing practices, transactions, etc.). This challenge was further compounded by back-end inefficiencies, due to the use of desperate and isolated business systems.


Lucira was not able to focus on development to meet the growing demand for their products in an era of an ever-evolving need for new medical technologies. After the first FDA approval for the emergency release of their COVID products, the demand was unbearably high.
